Sales tips from a sales director

Aug

Today, I got a customer who is the Sales Director of a very big printing company. I see "sales" as a very crucial part of business just like the strikers in a football team that bring you the victory. While he was waiting for his phone to get a software upgrade in my shop. I asked him some questions about sales  and he gave me some useful tips on his sales success.

Interesting, he said as a sales person, it is very very important to be organised (I think he would say "being able to talk" or something else. He mentioned everyday, he got many customers in his diary he needs to make call, send them quote & follow up. Eg, like he needs to know where the customer needs to send out their catalogues and then when to make call to him before the deadline etc etc. Timing is very cruel.

Also, hardwork and thick skin, he said he makes 50 calls a days and may be 1 or 2 could converg to potential business. Bear in mind that he is making cold calls, he know his potential customers and market.

Interestingly, he mentioned many many times his job is not difficult. I think if you know your stuffs and competent in your job, you will always think it's not difficult where I am sure it's pretty stressful and challenging to many others.
